A few members of the team will be sporting some facial furniture for the month formerly known as November, as they aim to raise awareness of and money for men’s health causes. If you’d like to follow their journey to Tom Selleck like glory (more like Michael Cera if you ask me) head over to the Town Square Instagram and smash that follow button.

If you’re not familiar with Movember, it’s a global charity that shines a spotlight on men’s health. It began in 2003 in Melbourne, Australia. A couple of mates decided that they wanted to bring the ‘tache back, and raise some cash for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer. They recruited 30 guys to pay $10 each to grow a moustache (or mo). Fast forward to 17 years where over 5 million men and women around the world support the Movember Foundation.

If you’d like to support Jordan, Tim, Liam and Dan in their pursuit of ‘The Selleck’ - you can do so by visiting their team page or throw your change into one of the donation boxes in the cafe or the bar.

Singer/songwriter and internationally-renowned guitarist, Ariel Posen, live at Town Square Cafe on 23 November 2019.

Tickets on sale now via Eventbrite.

Ariel Posen Cafe Events Live Music Town Square Belfast.jpg

We’re delighted to team up with Kithara Guitars (Belfast’s coolest, indie guitar makers) to host an up close and personal concert with Ariel Posen (guitar wizard) in the cafe this November. Ariel is a singer/songwriter, internationally-renowned guitarist, producer and solo artist from Winnipeg, Canada. If you know anything about guitars you’ll know exactly who we’re talking about.

Don’t sleep on this, get your tickets now to avoid disappointment (especially when all you mates are posting class videos on Instagram and you’re at home feeling all sad)

The bar will be serving a full range of tasty cocktails, beer, wines and locally sourced spirits throughout the performance. Take a look at the menu in advance.

I’ve no idea who this guy is.. what’s the craic?

As a lifelong musician, there are few roles Ariel hasn't played. Although born in Winnipeg, Posen spent much of his childhood on the road, travelling from show to show with his musician parents. He began playing the guitar at 9 years old, kicking off a career that eventually found him travelling the globe for his own gigs, including shows as a member of the Juno Award-winning, roots-rock band The Bros. Landreth. Several years later, Posen began working on an album of his own, tracking his new songs in the same studio in which his parents once recorded their albums.

How Long marks Posen's long-awaited solo debut, showcasing not only his chops as an instrumentalist but his talents as a diverse songwriter, too. The record casts a wide net, moving from rootsy blues to R&B to melodic rock & roll. A co-writer and producer for artists of all genres, Posen shows the full range of his talents on these 10 tracks, nodding to his influences — including The Beatles and many more — along the way. How Long is not a guitar record, although there's certainly plenty of guitar to be heard here. Instead, it's a song record, filled with hooks, autobiographical lyrics, and Posen's compelling voice.

"The guitar is the tool to get the music out," he says. "Always serve the song first. Otherwise, you're just playing an instrument.”

Drink & Draw - October Edition

Drink & Draw - October

The team at Loft are back in the cafe on Tuesday 22nd October for another edition of Drink & Draw. This month is sponsored by Deadbeat Creative Company and Framework.

Drop by from 7pm for some drinks, drawing and solid tunes from Drone Mansions DJs.

For more info head over to the Drink & Draw facebook event.

What exactly is Drink & Draw?

Once a month on a Tuesday night we team up with the guys from Loft, to create a drawing event in the café. The event is completely FREE and open to people of all abilities. Whether you are a seasoned pro or have never lifted a pencil before, you are more than welcome! In terms of format, people usually like to get down early to secure a good seat close to the scrabble board (the models that you will be drawing / trying to draw usually sit in front of the scrabble board). The main man David Badger (big name in the illustration world) will start proceedings by introducing the first model (fully clothed-dont worry). Everyone draws the model and then if you want to, you can pin your drawing to the scrabble board. The rest of the room systematically vote, and mark the drawing that they think is best. We stress that you do not have to partake in this section of the evening if you would like to keep your drawing to yourself. The drawing with the most votes wins! The process starts again with a new model. While you are drawing, Drone Mansions DJs provide some sweet tunes in the background- they like to keep it electronic with a lovely bass line. You are free to come and go as you please and we serve our full food and coffee menu throughout. We also have the bar open next door and usually have great deals on cocktails, beers and wines. Drawing materials are provided but you can also bring your own! If you are the sort who needs even more detail, you can slide into our dms on facebook and ask whatever you want!
